| empty. I freaked to say the least. I ran to the side of the barn. No Liza. I ran to the other side. Nothing. I called out to her. Before you say anything I want you to know Liza and I could communicate through telepathy. So expecting her to answer is not so weird or anything. As I moved around the area calling her name my mother came to me. 'Bobby', she said,'Liza is gone.' Gone. Gone! How can she be gone. We're suppose to walk today. She can't walk by herself she has no legs. Pumpkins have no legs. I broke down. My mother spoke to me softly,' Bobby, your father and I felt that Liza should be with her own kind. We gave her to a man who said he raised lots of pumpkins and would give her a new home.' I demanded to know who it was that took my beloved Liza away from me. 'It was Mr. Skizeks.' Mother you gave Liza to the town baker. He will kill her. He will make her into a pie. People will eat my Liza. I rushed to save her. I was too late. When I got to the baker he had all ready gutted my Liza. |
| There she sat, an empty shell. As I embraced Liza I asked Mr.Skizeks for the shell. He gave her to me. I cried. When I got my Liza home it was apparent things had changed. But now I knew of a way to allow the spirit of my Liza to live on. I carved the most beautiful face into Liza. I placed a large candle inside her to illuminate her at night as we sat on the porch together. It was from that moment I knew I would protect pumpkins with my every being. I re-lived that moment a year ago when the demon tried to damage and kill your pumpkin at the Lucky Star. If I let him harm that pumpkin he was hurting my Liza." Pump was now quiet and I understood the motivation that drove our hero. " I'd just like to say, Pumpkin smiled," I have decided to dedicate my life to protecting all vegetables from harms way. I have created the Pumpkin Mike Vegetable Protection Society. It is a group that understands and appreciates relationships between humans and vegetables. As I slowly backed away from our hero I could hear him humming the theme song from Cabaret and quietly cry over the renewed memory of his one true love, Liza the Pumpkin. |
