Lucky Star Lounge Breaking New Flash Report Special

Story by  Jaime Beam       Protector of the Squirrels
Many times a day I see lying
flat as a cow chip in a busy
feedlot, a squirrel decorating
the asphalt. No real thought
is given to the sudden end of
this flinching tree climbing
rodent. Some of us simply
steer our buggies or
carriages around the
smashed display and others
take great joy in continue
the puree of fur and squirrel
organs.
There is a different story
inside the Lucky Star Lounge.
She has spiked red hair (her
real color). She has a
pleasant smile and loves to
hug all people regardless of
personal hygiene.
Let's break this story down.
In 1991, the spiked hair
hugger rescues a infant
squirrel destined to become
cat food while living in
Cranston, Rhode Island.
The young critter thrived
spending most of his time in
her shirt pocket. He was
given the name Sammy.
Named after famed Rat Pack
member Sammy Davis Jr..
This cuddly bunch of hair
rolled into a ball warming up
in her pocket.
Sadly for Sammy, the dream
existence had to come to an
end. The growing
Sammy was taken to the
Providence Roger Williams
Zoo Squirrel Rescue Team.
Enter last week. Trapped in
the breezeway entry to the
Lucky Star Lounge was an
adult squirrel literally
pounding his head on the
wall. A paniced customer
looked up our spiked red
hair beauty who was
casually completing a
crossword puzzle
competition against  make
believe Day Manager Dewey
Vaughn.
As she confidently moved to
the breezeway the customer
backed away afraid of the
crazed squirrel. There was
no assurance that this
manic tick haven would not
attack out of fear.
Quickly sizing up the
situation with the LSL front
door propped open and
guidance from a newspaper
the frightened parasitic
transportation device ran
through the door and down
Main Street Front Royal.
Once again in her life,
Shawn Ann Patterson
stepped forward when
others would not to save a
squirrel from injury or worse.
A coincidence or is Shawn
destined to save squirrels?
Her calling in life may be to
reach out to this nervous
flea scratching mammal. To
save a squirrel sends a
unique message to the rest
of us. Unfortunately I have
yet to un-scramble that
message.
