Animal Activist Upset at Lucky Star Lounge Fifty "Deer" Club story by William Vermouth
|
Local President of the All About
Critters Society, Duane Wizznose,
announced the AAC would begin daily
protests outside Front Royal's Lucky
Star Lounge in response to the Lucky
Star Fifty "Deer" Club.
" Based upon the information I
received through an informant who
clandestinely joined this club you had
to "knock back" fifty different deer to
receive some sort of commendation. I
personally see no glory in this
promotion of a horrendous blood
sport."
With other members of the AAC
surrounding Wizznose all were
equipped with home made protest
signs. Examples of their protest boards
stated," Save Our Bambis", " Make
Salad Not Venison", "A Dead Deer is
an Unhappy Deer" and "Take a Deer
Don't Have a Deer for Lunch".
When asked to explain some of the
signs club members became agitated
and began yelling profanities before
breaking into a chant calling for a
constitutional amendment outlawing
the Fifty "Deer" Club.
When Lucky Star spokesman, Sporty
Dewhurst attempted to explain the
name of the club he was shouted down
again with chants of " Let's make
Sporty Jerky, let's make Sporty jerky."

During a chance moment when all ACC
protesters took a collective breath Mr
Dewhurst was able to quickly point out
that the Lucky Star had a Fifty "Beer"
Club, not "Deer" club.
A strange silence hung over the
assembled crowd.
Wizznose asked for a clarification.
"The Lucky Star has a Fifty Beer Club,
Mr. Wizznose. We have nothing to do
with deer. People drink the beer for a
T-Shirt and plaque on the wall."
At this point many of the AAC members
began to file out. Those who elected to
stay bellied up to the bar. All were
given their own Fifty Beer Club cards.
When asked for comment Duane
Wizznose stated", It was an honest
mistake. We've been wrong before and
I fully expect to be wrong many more
times before we're right. The point is
we were able to bring forth to people a
problem that didn't exist and a powerful
action that resulted in absolutely
nothing being done. All in all it is worth
it to me and the AAC Society."
